Welcome to Georgian Tearooms

General Info

Tucked right in the heart of Bath at Georgian Tearooms, this charming tea house feels like stepping into a relaxed corner of the city where time slows down a little. The location is especially convenient for anyone exploring the historic streets nearby, and it’s easy to pop in for a warm drink or a comforting bite after a walk around the center. From the moment you walk through the door, the atmosphere feels welcoming and easygoing, the kind of place where both locals and travelers settle in for a proper tea break.

The menu here leans into classic British tea house traditions, and the highlight for many visitors is the Georgian Cream Tea. It arrives exactly how you’d hope: fresh scones served with cream and jam, paired with a pot of carefully brewed tea. Alongside that, the Afternoon Tea experience is another favorite among guests. It’s the kind of spread that encourages you to slow down and enjoy the moment, with tea poured generously and small treats that make the whole experience feel indulgent yet relaxed.

Of course, tea is the star of the show, and the great tea selection makes it clear why this place is known among tea lovers in Bath. The Earl Grey Tea is a particularly comforting choice, aromatic and smooth, perfect for a quiet afternoon. If tea isn’t quite your thing, the Hot Chocolate is equally satisfying-rich, warm, and ideal on cooler days when you want something cozy while watching the city outside.

Interestingly, the menu also includes a few heartier options, which makes this tea house feel more like a casual diner at times. The Burger and Fries offer a simple but satisfying meal if you’re looking for something more filling before continuing your day around Bath. This mix of light tea-time treats and classic comfort food makes the place flexible whether you’re stopping in for a quick drink or settling in for a longer break.

Service at Georgian Tearooms is straightforward and welcoming. The onsite services make ordering and dining easy, while practical features such as wheelchair accessible parking nearby help ensure the location is convenient for many visitors. Payment is also hassle-free, with debit cards and NFC mobile payments accepted, which is always appreciated when you’re traveling or moving around the city.

Overall, Georgian Tearooms stands out as a relaxed tea house in one of Bath’s most central locations. Between the comforting menu, the excellent tea selection, and the easygoing atmosphere, it’s the kind of place that earns warm reviews from people who simply want a pleasant stop during their day in the city. Whether you arrive for Afternoon Tea or just a quiet cup of Earl Grey, the experience feels genuine, unhurried, and very much in the spirit of a traditional Bath tea house.

What customers say?

“ The food and tea were excellent. The atmosphere was the perfect setting for a relaxing lunch. Exceptional customer service. ”

- Mike Fuquay -

“ We treated ourselves to a Georgian Cream Tea and everything was absolutely first class. The scone was warm and fresh, not too much cream and the tea and coffee was delicious. The staff/service was also brilliant, very friendly and efficient. I've had a cream tea at the famous "Betty's Tea Room" in York and I can honestly say that the one we had at the Georgian Tearooms was far superior while also being cheaper! ”

- Phil Ayrton -

“ Stunning food and a great place to sit! Very quiet and elegant, lovely music and stunning tea room ”

- Ellesha-Rose Parker -

“ A lovely place to stop and watch the world pass by, just by the abbey and down from the historic plane tree. Great helpings, good tea, and a lovely setting. Priced for tourists, it’s still reasonable to have afternoon tea for two here. ”

“ Nice little place. We decided to have lunch on Sunday. Went for jacket with cheese and my other half went for homemade lasagna. Food was nice but we were not wowed , just average. I had a cream tea too and scone was delicious with the clotted cream and jam. Service was nice and quick despite being busy. ”

- Diana Manasieva -

“ Tea with a view. Maybe it was the spectacular ambience or the incredible weather but this was a very pleasant rest stop. Coffee was tasty, tea hit the spot and they were even thoughtful enough to bring extra hot water. Staff were super pleasant and helpful which was refreshing. Washrooms were basic but clean and functional although it might be a challenge for those with limited mobility, if that's you, don't drink so much! Price was surprisingly inexpensive for somewhere with such an incredible view, £6ish for a pot of tea and a coffee. Certainly not obscene for Bath. Can definitely appreciate the fact this wasn't a chain though prices could trick you otherwise. ”

- Rikki Wright -

“ The Roman bath tea rooms were full so I popped into here and I thought it was equally as good. The environment is a classic house which adds to the vintage feel. The ladies in charge of service were super kind and friendly. I personally had a great time ”

“ My partner and I went for an afternoon tea type situation, as I was desperate to have a scone and jam whilst we were in Bath. He doesn’t like scones, but they have something for everyone and he ordered a chocolate cake that looked amazing. I would’ve loved if I could have had clotted cream instead of butter but I’m not even sure if they offer it, I was delighted anyway. We had originally sat outside but due to the amount of seagulls and my fear of birds, we had to move inside. Even though it was busy, the girls on shift cleared up the tables extremely quickly, and if it wasn’t for their efficiency, my partner’s phone could have been stolen, as he’d accidentally left it on the table outside when we had moved to a table inside. The decor was lovely inside. ”
